Oh hey there!

Hey you! Thank you for checking out my blog!

A little about me:

I enrolled in college for Engineering at a younger than usual age. After spending 2 1/2 years in the Engineering program, I decided that I was more interested in social constructs, racial identity development, inequality and …  well, I graduated with a B.A. in Sociology :-). While in college I spent much of my time serving as an advocate, activist and organizer tackling various issues affecting women and minorities. I decided to further my education and earned a Masters in Student Development and Personnel Services with a concentration in Social Justice Education (M.Ed.).

Most of my professional career has been in higher education, There I was able to apply much of my knowledge, both in theory and practice, into the many roles and hats I wore. Higher education is truly where my career heart will aways be.

After several years in higher education, I decided to return to my roots–computer and web languages! The world of web language sure did change – now we have content management systems as opposed to website built on raw HTML, CSS and JS. I wanted in! Lucky for me bringing myself up to speed wasn’t too bad. I have my years in Engineering to thank for that!

Currently I work as a web developer primarily with the WordPress platform. I am very proud of the many projects I’ve taken on a consulting basis.  I am the Media and Digital Brand Director for a company in the sports nutrition and supplement industry as well as a digital strategist and marketing consultant for various non-profit organizations, individuals and businesses.

Oh, in case you didn’t notice I also love pole fitness/dance and I am the proud owner of Soul Pole Dance & Fitness.

Since I have been in the fitness industry for quite a few years, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to serve as a freelance writer on assignment for bodybuilding.com and other fitness magazines. I love writing!!!

I absolutely love what I do. I wake up every day with energy and purpose to tackle every single challenge that awaits me. I go to bed happy, fulfilled and accomplished.

I hope you are able to identify with one, or perhaps many, of my blogs. I hope what I write makes sense…I hope it lifts you up, gets you out of a funk, move away from a bad place, or simply make you laugh. But most importantly, I hope you learn and feel empowered!

Thank you for being here!
